Thank you to Gerry Ferdinands for a very generous individual donation.
And finally… thank you to all those people who have already signed up to make regular contributions to the work in Kenya. We know who you are, and we thank you sincerely for your support.

Special thanks go to…
Matthew Alford who designed our new logo which will shortly be appearing on our (soon to be) refurbished website. Check out Matthew’s work here.
Helen Tyrikos who designed the flyer we have been using to advertise our fundraiser at The Comic’s Lounge on October 15th. Thanks Helen.

Blaga Cvetanovski, Sanum Kazi & Alison Woolford have all been forcing their work colleagues to consume more chocolate than usual this month. We fully endorse this method of raising funds!
Bryan and Chris McIver who made an extremely generous donation to the children in Mombasa.
And finally… thank you to all those people who have already signed up to make regular contributions to the work in Kenya. We know who you are, and we thank you from our hearts.
Special Thanks to People in Action in August
Here we provide updates on people and activities that have been working on behalf of ACTION THIS DAY.
Corporate Sponsors
This month saw our first major contribution from the business community. ACTION THIS DAY would like to acknowledge the support of Quantum Information Technology whose generous donation and ongoing commitment to our work in Kenya, is greatly appreciated.
The Comic’s Lounge
The Comic’s Lounge in North Melbourne support Australian charities and community groups through the donation of tickets to their weekly shows. Join us on Thursday, 15th October 2009, and come and have a laugh in the name of charity. Find out more details about the night here.
Individual Donations
During August we received our first overseas donations, including a very generous donation from Heather Cornes in the UK. On behalf of the children of Bamburi, asante sana Heather.
Chocolate Chompers
In the work places that support ACTION THIS DAY work colleagues have taken to snacking on chocolate for charity. This is definitely classified as “guilt free” eating and is a great way to raise funds in your own workplace.
If you want to find out more about a really easy and popular way of raising valuable funds to help our cause, check out the Cadbury® fundraising site, or if you prefer, try Mars®.
Action This Day Launch
Launch Lunch at AGL
On July 30th we held a lunch to formally launch ACTION THIS DAY at Brian’s workplace. The main purpose was to celebrate our beginnings and to inform our supporters of the Action plan for the next two years. Over 65 people attended and almost $800 was raised from the lunch and individual donations.
People in Action in July
Here we provide updates on people and activities that have been working on behalf of ACTION THIS DAY.
DPaC Supporters Sign-up
Alison Woolford has been mobilising her work colleagues at DPAC in Tasmania and the response has been tremendous. Over 20 people have signed up to provide ongoing support for the children in Kenya. Watch this space for more news of fund raising activities in Alison’s work place. Visit our volunteers page to read about Alison’s time in Kenya in 2008.
Cards and Gift Wrap for Kenya
Special thanks to Bev McLennen who donated just over $113 from proceeds of cards and gift wrap sales in the workplace at AGL. Bev will be holding a similar sale in September.
Table Tennis at AGL
The table tennis competition organised at AGL by the fund raising committee was a huge success. Over 100 people participated with just over $1,500 being raised. The grand final event attracted plenty of interest and was well supported by staff, including some of our General Managers who generously participated in a number of exhibition games.
The grand final was won by Shibaji Datta who with his number one Indian State ranking and number two Indian National ranking, put on an amazing display of table tennis that was admired and appreciated by all.
Thank you to all who competed and those who just came along to support the cause. A special thank you goes to Kerryn Morcom and the rest of the fund raising committee for their efforts in organising the event.
